Royal Crown Derby War Pigeon, Limited Edition

The War Pigeon paperweight pays homage to “Commando” war pigeons who served alongside the British Army during World War II to carry crucial intelligence over enemy lines. Beautifully decorated with colors found in wartime propaganda, camouflage techniques have been the source of inspiration with some areas displaying softer feather impressions contrasting with the 22k gold accents. The design also features an interpretation of the Dickin Medal with the inscription, “For gallantry we also serve” around the base. Backstamp denotes; “In recognition of all World War II War Pigeons who served alongside the British Military Intelligence Service.” Handmade in England. Limited Edition of 750.
